The building of a boat is a multi-step process which utilizes different types of finishing equipment.
In the plug stage spray guns may be utilized to apply the feather fill. Many times it may be applied with an external mix gun or gel coat system. After the mold is polished, the tooling gel is applied using a Gel Coat System. After the gel coat is applied the mold is reinforced with metal and fibreglass and may utilize a chopper gun system in the process.
After the mold is made ready, a colour gel coat is applied using a spray gun with a gel coat supply system. The fibreglass laminations begin by applying a "skin" coat to the back of the gel coat. Mat and cloth are then laid up and a LEL Non-Atomized system is used to "wet out" the cloth and mat or at this stage a chopper gun system may be used to apply chopped "roving" into the resin flowing from the head and sprayed into the mold to build up laminations.
Other components like decks and small parts will be produced at the same time utilizing much the same process. Gel coat may be applied later to the inside of the boat using a gel coat system in order to finish off the inside of the boat.
